Tangible Earth

Interaction System Design, Self-initiated project, self-promoted (2001)

The size of the earth is too large for humans to actually comprehend. The Tangible Earth was created at the scale of one ten millionth to allow a person to touch and hold it with two arms. Watching floating clouds and sea currents on the surface of the virtual earth, visitors get a realistic feeling for the scale and movement of storms and ocean currents across the surface of the earth. By seeing the scale and broad impact of the earth’s weather the visitor should get a very real feeling for the global impact of the weather and international impact of pollution.
